IDP killed, others wounded in clan infighting near Azaz, northwestern Syria
AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – An IDP was killed and others wounded in clan infighting in the village of Shamarin, north of Azaz city in the opposition-held areas in northwestern Syria.
Local sources reported that on Sunday night, clashes between IDPs from the Sa’b and Aojail tribes broke out in the village of Shamarin, with light and medium weapons used.
Ahmed Mousa, an IDP from the southern countryside of Aleppo, was killed, and dozens were injured in the clashes, a local source told North Press.
According to the source, the clashes caused fires in civilian homes due to random shooting, without mentioning the reasons that led to the fighting.
Azaz has been held by Turkish-backed armed opposition groups since 2012.
An IDP died on Saturday while trying to resolve a conflict between two families within the camp of Bab al-Salama, east of the city Azaz, northwestern Syria.
In a related context, locals found the body of an unknown man shot in the head on Saturday near Akdeh camp in northeastern Azaz.
On 7th of October, a Civil Police member was killed while trying to settle an armed conflict between displaced people in Shamarkh camp, east of the town of Sijou, in Azaz region.
Regions of northwestern Syria witness insecurity and instability
accompanied by frequent bombings, amid the inability of the military police to control security, since they were taken over by the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in 2012.
