HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – An Iraqi refugee was injured on Monday in a shooting inside Hawl camp, east of the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria. This marks the second incident of its kind within two consecutive days.
Security sources from inside Hawl Camp told North Press that Hatem Abdelkarim was shot with a silenced weapon by unknown assailants and sustained injuries to his right thigh in the attack.
The source added that Abdelkarim is in his thirties, works as a barber inside the camp, and comes from the Iraqi al-Ba’aj district.
The sources noted that the shooting took place at approximately nine 9 p.m. in front of the first sector that is designated for Iraqi refugees, and that he was hospitalized inside the camp.
Radical women from ISIS families are behind the assassination attempt, according to the sources.
During September, Hawl Camp recorded 11 attempted murders, most of which targeted displaced Iraqis inside the camp, as two of them were killed, according to the statistics issued by the camp’s security forces.
