US-led Global Coalition supports northeastern Syria with Bradleys and Sentinel Radars
WASHINGTON, USA (North Press) – US-led Global Coalition announced on Friday the arrival of new military equipment to northeastern Syria, to ensure that they are able to continue their Defeat-ISIS mission without interference.
Col. Wayne Marotto, spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR), posted on his Twitter Account on Friday the arrival of M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles to northeastern Syria,
The spokesman added the Bradley’s enable continued force protection for the Global Coalition and their partners ‘Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)’ in their ongoing mission to defeat ISIS.
“The mechanized infantry assets will help ensure the force protection of Coalition forces in an increasingly complex operating environment in northeast Syria,” Col. Wayne Marotto said.
“The Coalition forces remain steadfast in our commitment of ensuring the enduring defeat of Daesh.”
According to a statement on CJTF-OIR website, the mechanized forces moving into Syria hail from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas. The unit is deployed to the U.S. Central Command area of operations in support of Operation Spartan Shield based in Kuwait.
The statement added that US Department of Defense last repositioned Bradley vehicles in Syria in October 2019 to partner with SDF to defeat ISIS remnants, protect critical infrastructure and deny ISIS access to revenue source.
Captain Bill Urban, USN, U.S. Central Command Spokesman, stated on the official website that U.S. Central Command has directed a number of actions in northeast Syria to help ensure the safety and security of Coalition forces.
He added United States has deployed Sentinel radar, increased the frequency of U.S. fighter patrols over U.S. forces, and deployed Bradley Fighting Vehicles to augment U.S. forces in the Eastern Syria Security Area (ESSA).
“These actions are a clear demonstration of U.S. resolve to defend Coalition forces in the ESSA, and to ensure that they are able to continue their Defeat-ISIS mission without interference.” Captain Bill Urban said.
He declared that US did not seek conflict with any other nation in Syria, but would defend Coalition forces if necessary.”
