Future Syria Party: Opposition benefits from prolonging Syrian crisis
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The head of the Future Syria Party, Ibrahim al-Qaftan, said that the opposition’s Syrian National Coalition (SNC) is the one who benefits most from prolonging the crisis in Syria.
In a statement to North Press, he accused the SNC “of working to spread an international [Muslim Brotherhood] project in Palestine, Egypt, and Libya under the cover of the new Ottoman colonialism with an Islamic cover.”
Al-Qaftan criticized SNC head Naser Hariri, accusing him of opposing any Syrian democratic projects, because he no longer carries the Syrian project and has become a plaything in the hands of regional countries, especially Turkey.
“The head of the SNC now is representing the Ottoman project in the region, starting from Syria to Libya to Iraq,” al-Qaftan added.
“The SNC is opposing the Autonomous Administration because it represents the will of the people and all communities of the region, as it is a gateway to a solution in Syria,” He said.
Naser Hariri, head of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (Syrian National Coalition or SNC), had asked the US to hand over the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (AANES) to the SNC in early August.
In early September, he called on the Arab League for an emergency meeting to discuss what he described as “the Democratic Union Party (PYD, the leading party in autonomous northeast Syria) threatening the territorial integrity of Syria”.
Al-Qaftan believes that his party’s position adopts a solution to the Syrian crisis through dialogue and patriotism, away from religion and nationalism.
“The solution will be through the national democratic project based on decentralization, pluralism, and a parliamentary system of government,” he added.
Al-Qaftan believes that the hostility stems from loyalties to international parties. “We call for intra-Syrian dialogue on the UN platform and within the provisions of Resolution 2254,” he added.
He ruled out a solution through the Sochi and Astana platforms or tracks supported by Turkey.
He said, “The Turkish-backed armed opposition groups rely on killing; Hevrin Khalaf, the Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party, was a victim of the policy of these groups in late 2019.”
