Health Board in northeast Syria co-presidency objects to decision to withhold confidence
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Health Board co-chair presidency of the Jazira Region objected on Wednesday to the Legislative Assembly’s decision to withhold confidence during a session that was hold on July.
The Supreme Constitutional Court confirmed that it received the objection of Executive Council of Jazira, regarding the decision to withhold confidence from the Health Board co-chair presidency.
On July 19, the Legislative Assembly’s official Facebook account posted that the council issued the decision with majority approval during a regular session.
In a joint statement in Qamishli, Health Board co-chairs Raperin Hasan and Manal Muhammad demanded an explanation for the reasons behind the decision to withhold confidence from them.
They added, “the withholding confidence decision was issued with no clear reasons.”
They confirmed that the only true reasons for withholding confidence are “disloyalty, perjury, and violation of the provisions of the Social Contract,” which acts as a constitution for the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria.
The co-chairs expressed their readiness to stand before the people if it is proven that they made any decisions that resulting in a lack of confidence, according to the joint statement.
Mahmud Kheder, head of the Supreme Constitutional Court, told North Press that the Executive Council of Jazira applied a rejection request for the Constitutional Court’s decision.
This is the first time the Executive Council has applied for a rejection to the court, according to Fares Sayd Alo, a court staff member.
So far, the Constitutional Court has not issued any decision in this regard. ”Due to the imposed lockdown to combat the coronavirus outbreak, the work of the Legislative Assembly Council was suspended,” according to the head of the court.
Nazira Koriya, the co-chair of the Executive Council in Jazira, did not reply to North Press regarding the reasons for their rejection of the decision, saying that “these are internal administrative matters among councils.”
Both Raperin Hasan and Manal Muhammad have been the co-chairs of the Health Board in the Jazira Region since April 2019, despite the passage of more than a month since the issuance of the no confidence decision.
