Eight new coronavirus cases in northeast Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) recorded the deaths of three coronavirus cases and eight new infections on Monday, bringing the total number to 362 infected cases, 25 dead, and 66 recovered.

Co-chair of the AANES Health Board Jiwan Mustafa said, ”The health board recorded eight new infected cases and three cases were reported dead. The new recorded cases are three in Hasakah, two in Kobani, one in Raqqa, two in Deir ez-Zor, and one case in Tabqah.”

He further explained, “The three death cases are two in Hasakah and one in the northern countryside of Aleppo.”

The new recorded cases are seven men and one woman, Mustafa added.    

He also confirmed the recovery of eight infected cases.

North and East Syria is witnessing an outbreak of coronavirus, with the Health Board recording the first two cases in the city of Hasakah in April, bringing the number after four months to 362.

In a statement to North Press, the head of the Health Board said that he expects a spike in infections at the end of August, confirming that the lockdown aims to delay the outbreak.
