IDPs in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor protest to demand SDF and Coalition retake their villages
Dozens of displaced people from seven villages in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside took part in a protest demanding the Global Coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) retake their villages from the control of Syrian government forces on Friday.
Dozens of IDPs from the villages of Hussainiya, Salihiya, Hatla, Marat, Mazloum, Khasham, and Tabiya protested in the village of Ezbah and Maamel Roundabout, north of Deir ez-Zor city, to demand that it be restored from the control of government forces and militias affiliated with Iran, a North Press correspondent from the region reported.
He added that the displaced raised banners bearing slogans against the Syrian government, such as “The Global Coalition has no alternative to liberating our villages,” and “Syrian Democratic Forces, it is enough to delay, we want our villages.”
The same area witnessed the exit of dozens of displaced residents of those villages to demand the restoration of their villages four months ago.
The city of Raqqa witnessed hundreds of protesters demand the overthrow of the Syrian government and the departure of Syrian President Bashar Assad and political and military figures in the current government on Saturday.
The demonstrators held banners against the Syrian government and Iranian, Turkish and Russian presence, and some of them accused Iran of stirring up discord among Syrians.
