Russian Security Advisor in Israel for the Trilateral Jerusalem Security Summit

The Russian National Security Adviser Nikolai Petrushev has arrived in Israel on Monday for a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Israeli counterpart, Meir Ben-Shabat.
The meeting came on the eve of the trilateral Security Summit in Jerusalem on Tuesday, where he meets his US counterpart John Bolton and the attendance of Israeli Advisor Ben-Shabat.
According to the Israeli specialist in the military affairs Eyal Alima, “The talks will focus on the Syrian and Iranian issues, and the Iranian presence in Syria in the post-civil war period.”
Alima added while talking to North-Press, that the trilateral summit will lead to interim understandings on the Iranian presence in Syria, as well as preventing any military engagements between the three forces of Russia, the United States, and Israel, especially over the Syrian airspace.
While the US National Security Advisor John Bolton has arrived in Israel on Sunday, where he met with Netanyahu and his Israeli counterpart Ben-Shabat.
The US national security adviser stressed on the necessity of ensuring that Iran will never acquire nuclear weapons, pointing out that it continues to threaten Israel and US allies in the Gulf region.
The US official said during his meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu: “Iran is not a nation seeking peace.” Bolton also stressed that the US army is ready to move, noting that it’s the best army in the world.
Washington had imposed further sanctions on Iran and would impose more on it soon, as he clarified.
Bolton also said that he agreed with Netanyahu that there’s no peace without security, adding that the US President Donald Trump would take Israel’s concerns into consideration.
Bolton made the remarks during a tour of the Jordan Valley, in which David Friedman, the US Ambassador to Israel participated, as the two guests listened to a security report from Central Region Commander Maj. Gen. Nadav Padan.
The trilateral summit, described by Netanyahu as “Historic and unprecedented,” addresses security issues in the region, Israel and the United States will try to offer different incentives to the Russians to reduce Iran’s presence in Syria in exchange for the political recognition of Bashar al-Assad’s sovereignty.
While senior US officials said that the aim of the joint summit was to achieve Iran’s withdrawal from Syria and ask Russia for proposals for ways to limit the Iranian influence in the region.
During the trilateral summit, Israel will present its stances on the Iranian intervention in Syria, and the latest developments in the Gulf region, and will also listen to the stances of Russia and the United States in order to reach agreements.
