Turkish project in Libya failed since the first day – Libyan Parliament

The Libyan Parliament confirmed that the Turkish project in Libya has failed since the first day of the intervention, citing the recent successes of the Libyan National Army, which paved the way for establishing full control, valuing in the same context the role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt in supporting the Libyan people and supporting Libya in addressing existing challenges.

In exclusive statement to North-Press, by a phone call from Libya, the advisor to the Libyan Parliament Speaker, Fathi al-Marimi, said: "Since Turkey has intervened in the Libyan affairs, it has failed in everything," citing the victories of the Libyan National Army led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, all over Libya.

The adviser to the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament stressed that the Libyan National Army has succeeded in liberating the entire eastern region, as well as the southern and al-Hilal oil area which starts from the seaports to the depth of the Libyan desert, where there are Libyan oil fields, and now it is in most of the western area. Only the center of Tripoli, the capital, has remained and several other areas, including Misrata, which is still under the grip of the militias.
Fathi al-Marimi added: "As for all of Libya, it is under the control of the Libyan National Army, and therefore the Turkish project is a failed project in Libya, Ankara has chosen terrorists and terrorist militias that the Libyan people reject through its national army and through its support for the national army, as that marked a great failure for Turkey's project in Libya."

Moreover, he stressed that Turkey has long-standing ambitions in Libya, and its interventions started early since 2011 with the beginning of the crisis in Libya, and it has directly expressed that intervention recently by announcing it officially and sending military forces into Libya after two agreements concluded with the president of the so-called the Government of National Accord, Fayez al-Sarraj.

In his statement to North-Press, the advisor to the Libyan parliament spoke about the contacts and efforts being made by Egypt, the recent meetings (including Cairo's hosting of the meeting of foreign ministers of France, Cyprus, Greece and Egypt to coordinate on the situation in Libya), as well as contacts and meetings of President Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi on Libya, with Russia and the United States of America.

"Throughout history, Egypt has always had an honorable and steadfast stance towards Libya. It always supports the Libyan people and always strives for the stability of Libya, and this is not a strange role by Cairo, the neighboring country and the big sister," the advisor to the of the Parliament Speaker said. He pointed out that "the Egyptian efforts have an impact on the local and regional levels as well as on the international level, through contacts with the world countries, the Mediterranean countries and all the major countries, including the influential countries whether in the United Nations or the Security Council and the European Union and African federation," he added.
