SDF completes deployment with the Global Coalition, calls on U.S. and Russia to reopen M4 – Spokesperson

The Spokesperson of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Kino Gabriel said that the SDF and the Global Coalition forces have completed their redeployment in each of the areas of  (Hasakah, Qamishli, Derik and Deir ez-Zor).

In an official statement, Mr. Gabriel confirmed that the joint work will continue "to pursue the Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells, establish security and stability, protect the civilians from the terrorist attacks, and to provide protection for oil and gas fields in the mentioned areas.”

Mr. Gabriel pointed out that stability in north-eastern Syria requires the two guarantors, the United States and Russia, to "ensure a comprehensive ceasefire and to open the M4 highway for the movement of the civilians.”

While the Commander-in-Chief of the SDF, General Mazloum Abdi announced on Sunday that the SDF has reached an agreement with Russia, which includes the entry of the Russian forces into the areas of Amude, Tal Tamr and Ein Issa, in north-eastern Syria to establish stability in the region.  

General Abdi said that the SDF received Brigadier-General Alexander Chaiko, the commander of Russian forces operating in Syria, noting that the meeting between the two parties was "very fruitful".  

General Abdi stated: "We agreed on the deployment of the Russian forces in Amude, Tal Tamr and Ein Issa for the security and stability of the region. We look forward to making more joint efforts in the interest of our two countries.”

Russia also plays a mediating role in arranging dialogue between the Autonomous Administration of north-eastern Syria and the Syrian government.
