On Saturday evening, members of Turkish-backed armed opposition groups launched raids during which they arrested dozens of civilians in the villages of Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northwest of Hasakah in northeastern Syria.
On Sunday, local sources told North-Press that the armed groups' members arrested dozens of people from the villages of al-Matbaa and Omrit in Sere-Kaniye's countryside on the Syrian-Turkish border, on charges of planning a bombing and being affiliated with the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
On Sunday, the Violations Documentation Center in Northern Syria (VDC-NSY) said that gunmen from the Turkish-backed "National Army" stormed the villages of al-Matbaa and Omrit in the countryside of Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), and arrested 32 people during the raid and the search of houses.
The VDC-NSY quoted local sources in saying that the arrests were carried out indiscriminately, where they were searching the houses and insulting the villagers, and then they took the detainees to an unknown location.
The entire Syrian area under the control of the Turkish army and its affiliated armed groups witnesses continuous security chaos.
On the 16th of April, gunmen in the military police of the armed groups shot a young man in the city of Sere-Kaniye, because he objected to their imposition of financial royalties on the population, the matter which lead to his murder.
On the same day, members of the "al-Hamza" militia kidnapped doctor Muhammad Haj Hamad Hamadeen from his home in the city of Sere-Kaniye and took him to an unknown location.
The armed groups of the Turkish-backed National Army continue to kidnap and detain civilians in their areas of control in Syria. Since their takeover of Afrin on the 18th of March 2018, the armed groups have arrested hundreds of civilians on charges of working previously for the Autonomous Administration or planning bombings.
