Casualties among Turkish-backed opposition due to explosions in Sere-Kaniye

On Thursday, members of the Turkish-backed opposition groups were killed and injured by simultaneous explosions in two villages in the southern countryside of Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain).

On Thursday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported the occurrence of simultaneous explosions in al-Ahras village near the town of al-Manajir, and al-Amiriyah village in the countryside of Sere-Kaniye, north of Hasakah governorate.      

It was found that the explosions were caused by landmines in those two villages, which resulted in deaths and injuries of members of the Turkish-backed opposition groups, according to SOHR.

For its part, the Syrian government News Agency (SANA) quoted local sources that a group of the members of the Turkish-backed opposition groups were killed and injured by landmine explosions in the village of al-Ahras in the town of Sere-Kaniye, north of Hasakah governorate.  

Local sources reported to North-Press that on April 20, violent clashes with heavy weapons broke out between the two Turkish-backed opposition groups Ahrar al-Sharqiya and Liwa al-Mu'tasem due to disputes over the loot and the seizure of the houses of the displaced people of the town of Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain).

On April 10, heavy fighting broke out between two Turkish-backed opposition groups in the villages of al-Amiriyah and al-Arisha, in the countryside of Sere-Kaniye and Tal-Tamr, north of Hasaka governorate, because they opposed other groups’ closure of the border from the Turkish side, and not paying their monthly salaries.
