Security operation inside Hawl camp, eastern Syria is over

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A source in the Hawl camp management said on Friday that the SDF stopped inspections inside the camp after demands from international organizations operating there.

The source, who preferred not to be named, said that “Two days after its start with the support of the Global Coalition, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) stopped the inspections inside the camp.”

“They only registered personal data and information related to ISIS women in the female migrants (Muhajerat) sector.”

“Stopping the security operation prevented the complete inspection of the camp, as all tents were to be inspected in order to ensure that the sectors were free of hidden equipment or weapons,” he added.

The source pointed out that the operation contributed in registering the personal data of all the ISIS wives and families, in addition to taking personal photos and taking their fingerprints and iris scan.

The female migrants sector in Hawl camp includes about 11,000 women and children of ISIS members.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced on June 10 that it would start an operation to register ISIS women’s data in order to control security.

Hawl camp is 40 km east of the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, and is home to more than 65,000 people, including more than 40,000 children, according to the official statistics of the camp’s management.
