After years of cultural stagnation, influenced by the Syrian crisis and the country's instability, the cultural movement is reviving again in the city of Aleppo, which for many years had been the Capital of Islamic Culture.

A group of young men and women from the city of Aleppo launched a cultural event that includes theatrical performances titled Nights of Aleppo Theaters, on the 10th of this month, which ends on the 15th of the same month.

The theatrical performances revolved around several topics, including the high cost in the Syrian markets, dealing with corruption in the military and civil institutions, in addition to the situation of the Syrian citizen who left the country fleeing the horror of war, and to secure the livelihood of his family.

Sources confirmed to North-Press that this theatrical event is scheduled to end with awards to the participants of this work by the Ministry of Culture, after the performances end on the 15th of December in the city of Aleppo, which aimed to stimulate the role of the theater more than it is. As the Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with Aleppo Governorate, worked to reactivate the role of culture in Aleppo, after what the city was exposed to of destruction of infrastructure by the war.

The Ministry of Culture launched cultural activities in the city of Aleppo under the title "Aleppo the capital of the Syrian culture", which started on the 12th of October, lasted for a whole month, and included more than 100 cultural events. A variety of theatrical performances and opening of a book fair and poetry evenings in the National Library of Aleppo were among the activities, as well as concerts for singing and folk dances and many other cultural activities and events.

The theater had a prominent role in the established cultural events, as it played a great role in shedding light on the daily affairs of the Syrian citizens, their suffering and problems, as well as shedding light on the administrative corruption that exists in some government departments.

These events included more than 1500 participants, who came from Damascus, Homs and Aleppo, where 22 cultural figures of writers, poets, directors, actors and singers were honored.
