“Sardam” team of the military theater of the Self-Protection Forces, has presented a theatrical performance entitled “Confession” at Muhammad Sheikho Center for Culture and Arts in the city of Qamishli on Friday, in the presence of dozens of people who are interested in the art of theater.
Revealing the truth
The text of the play “Confession” was written by Omran Youssef, who explained to North-Press that the play consists of one chapter and that the text discusses the subject of “revealing the truth”, adding that it raises questions such as, “how much of truth can one reveal, and why people cannot reveal the whole truth?”
Five characters were acting in the play, each one represented the role of a segment of society. One of whom represented the role of Caesar of Rome, another represented the role of the judge, the role of the priest, the role of women in society, and the fifth character represented the role of meaning of truth.
Regarding the multiplicity of these characters, text writer Omran Youssef said: “We want to deliver a message for the audience that tells the truth of each character”.
Representation of reality
“Confession” is directed by Muhammad Rasoul, who explained that the reason for choosing such a text, is his feeling that “it reflects reality”.
The characters in the play represented the role of the dead as they were talking about the reality of themselves, and it held a message that “carries a projection of negatives in society, and takes away the characteristics of virtuous people”.
The members of “Sardam” theater team train on a daily basis in a special center of the team in the city of Hasakah, which belongs to the military theater of the self-protection forces.
Regarding the mechanisms that the trainees are subjected to, the director Rasoul said: “We train each actor physically and psychologically, and we are working to strengthen their memory and raising their level of culture”.
