Dr. Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, confirmed that the World Health Organization (WHO) has provided two batches of medical aid to northeastern Syria.
He added that the batch of aid that the WHO provided during the past two days included medications for chronic diseases such as diabetes, in addition to hospital equipment, dialysis equipment, and a quantity of supplies related to the prevention of coronavirus.
Dr. Mustafa pointed out that the WHO has modified its dealings with the northeastern regions of Syria and started providing more assistance recently.
Through its account on Twitter the day before yesterday, the WHO published that it had delivered a new medical shipment with a capacity of 25 tons to Qamishli in northeastern Syria.
During the past months, the WHO was criticized by the Autonomous Administration officials for its lack of cooperation during the efforts to tackle coronavirus, especially after it was late in revealing the death of an individual infected with coronavirus in Hasakah last April, and not notifying the health institutions of the incident early.
