The mayor of Ain Mneen, in the Rif-Dimashq governorate, 16 km northern Damascus, said on Sunday that the town is free from any suspicion of infection with the coronavirus.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Health in the Syrian government lifted all preventative measures related to the town of Ain Mneen in northern Damascus.
In a special statement to North-Press, Ain Mneen mayor Abdul-Ghani Qasim said that the town is free from any suspicion of the existence or spread of coronavirus.
The town underwent all health measures, including quarantine, and prevented the residents from leaving for a period of 26 days. Medical tests were also conducted to test the presence of infections among the residents, and all results were negative, according to Qasim.
He added that suspected cases were transferred to the airport hotel, and later transferred to a quarantine center, but the results were negative, which confirms that the town is completely free of infections.
The Syrian authorities imposed a total lockdown on the town of Ain Mneen at the beginning of April after the town witnessed the death of a woman affected by the coronavirus.
Qasim said that the Ministry of Health asked the district directorate to remove the checkpoints at the entrances to the town that had been stationed to prevent the movement of entry and exit, and that roads were opened to residents after checking all suspected cases, including those of the deceased woman and her relatives.
