Extension of the lockdown in northeastern Syria for another 10 days

On Tuesday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria decided to extend the lockdown period to prevent the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, for the second time for a further period of ten days, starting tomorrow, Wednesday.

The Administration's decree stated: "The lockdown period is extended for ten days, starting from Wednesday morning, 22-04-2020 until 01-05-2020, with the previous decisions continuing to be applied."

The decree continued to exclude all (human-agricultural-veterinary) pharmacies, vegetable and fruit shops, meat and pastry shops, as well as stalls, street vendors, and all grocery stores, which can operate throughout the ban.

The decree also allowed money exchange shops to operate on Friday and Tuesday of each week, and allowed the construction sector and workshops to sell building materials and shops of industrial areas to continue to work.

The decree called for facilitating the transfer of agricultural workers to and from agricultural lands, provided that they do not exceed ten workers in one vehicle when they are transferred.

Vehicles and trucks were allowed to transport food, medical, health, fuel and fuel products between all departments.

It was stipulated that all employers in all fields provide personal protection kits with masks and gloves while observing the principle of social distancing.

This is the second time that the Autonomous Administration has decided to extend the period of the lockdown, as it approved the extension of the curfew on April 7 to April 21, which ends today, Tuesday, in the framework of the measures it has taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Administration began to impose an extendable lockdown for a period of two weeks in the areas of northeastern Syria since the 23rd of last March.
