Toys are the most of what the IDP children miss, which they left behind in their homes from which they were hastily displaced. On occasions and feasts, these children remember the number of their toys and their names, hoping to return to them as soon as possible. Haifa Atti, 42, is a displaced woman from Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) told North-Press that their children remember how they were celebrating the New Year's Eve at their home with their friends, and that what they remember the most is the toys they left behind during displacement.
She added that after more than two months of displacement, they were surprised on New Year's Eve with "Santa Claus", knocking on their doors and giving gifts to their children, which brought joy to their hearts.

Children remember their toys

In turn, Azad Muhammad Fawzi, 49,a displaced person from Tal Abyad (Gre-Spi) in Kobani said that his family left their house without taking any of their belongings with them, indicating that the most thing that children were affected by was leaving their toys during displacement.
Fawzi added that their children always ask them about the fate of their toys that they've left behind, pointing out that they are trying to fulfill the wishes of their children by buying gifts despite their difficult financial situation. He considered that the visit of "Santa Claus" to their house on the New Year's Day and presenting gifts to their children was a "beautiful idea", which brought joy to the hearts of children, especially as the visit came as surprising for them.

Giving gifts and toys

Meanwhile, local journalist Sherin Tammo, explained that the idea of presenting gifts for the displaced children came into her mind while preparing media reports on the IDPs, where she noted that toys are the most important thing that attract children despite their displacement. She added that she implemented the idea of giving gifts to the displaced children on the New Year's Eve with a group of her colleagues, to compensate the children for the toys they've lost due to the war and displacement. She explained that they distributed the toys for about 100 displaced children from Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tal Abyad (Gre-Spi), in addition to some children who were displaced from Afrin into Kobani.
