Renewed security tensions in Daraa governorate

The governorate of Daraa, in the south of Syria, have  witnessed renewal tensions caused by the security breakdown of unknown parties so far, according to local sources.

During the past few hours, there was a shooting by gunmen, who are likely former fighters in factions that were active in Daraa, attacking members of the Syrian government forces in Jasim area in the northwestern countryside of the governorate.

The sources confirmed the injury of one member of the government forces, while this shooting comes in the aftermath of the assassination of a former fighter in the organization of the “Islamic State” in the area of Tafs, west of Daraa.

It is noteworthy that Daraa witnessed in the recent months, assassinations and kidnappings operations caused the death and injury of dozens of civilians and fighters, which targeted in particular the former fighters who have been reconciled with the Syrian government.
