On Monday, the Agricultural Community Development Company in Kobani started distributing wheat prices, which it had earlier received from the local farmers.
The company had begun to receive wheat in two centers, silos of “Rouvi” village, and in Jalabiya town, at the start of the current month.
The spokesman of the Economic Commission for The Autonomous Administration in Kobani Khalil Sheikh Muslim told North-Press, “The distribution of the prices will be in the Syrian lira, adding that the farmers who delivered their wheat in the first and second of June have received their prices.”
Sheikh Muslim added that the company will distribute the prices according to the date of delivery of their wheat, in order to prevent congestion at the gates of the company, pointing out that the company on the second day will distribute the prices to the farmers who delivered their wheat on the third and fourth of June.
The Economic and Agriculture Authority in the north and east of Syria decided to purchase the wheat crops from farmers at a price of SYP 160 per kilo, while the price of 1 kilo of barley was set at SYP 100.
Muslim clarified that the silos of Rouvi and Jalabiya in Kobani were totally filled, and the silos in the areas of Dihliz, Skhirat and Ain Issa in the countryside of Tal-Abyad have were filled as well.
Sheikh Muslim explained that the company began receiving wheat from the farmers of Kobani, Tal-Abyad, Ein-Issa, and Serrin in the silos of al-Sharagrak, with a capacity of about 125 thousand tons, noting that the continued receipt of barley in the silos of Jalabiya after the filling of warehouses in Kobani.
The Economic and Agriculture Authority of the Autonomous Administration has allocated $200 million for the purchase of wheat and a limited amount of barley from farmers, where centers, silos, and warehouses were equipped to accommodate more than 700 thousand tons.
