37 thousand displaced women due to the Turkish military operation in northeastern Syria – Syrian Women’s Council

The Syrian Women’s Council in issued on Monday in the city of Qamishli, has affirmed that 37,000 women were displaced as a result of the Turkish military operation with its affiliated armed opposition groups in northeastern Syria, where the council called on regional and international countries to assume their responsibilities towards the ongoing Turkish violations.

The Syrian Women's Council statement clarified that 28,670 women were killed since the start of the Syrian crisis, and at least 10,026 are still under detention and enforced disappearance, noting that the basic rights of the Syrian women have deteriorated at all levels and have been subjected to various violations inside Syria, and in camps in the neighboring countries. The council called on the international organizations "to break their silence and bring Erdogan into trial as a war criminal," according to the statement.

The council also called on the Syrian human rights organizations to document the Turkish violations and its affiliated armed opposition groups in northern Syria, while ensuring the return of displaced persons to their areas and providing guarantees for their protection.
