Northeastern Syria Administration officials in Finland to discuss ISIS-Finnish families

Saleh Moslim, the Head of the Foreign Relations of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the leading political party in the autonomous administration of Northern Syria, said that he held talks with a delegation from the Finnish Interior Ministry regarding the situation of families of Finnish members of the Islamic State group in al-Hawl camp, in northeastern Syria.

The former PYD co-chair Saleh Moslem said while in Finland that he’s presented information concerning the situation in northeastern Syria to the Finnish Interior Ministry, especially al-Hawl camp and the situation of Finnish families inside, adding that “We’ve promised to provide the needed help for the Finnish officials,” according to Finland’s national public broadcasting company.

The head of the Finnish Red Cross relief operations, Kali Luffy, stated to Finland’s YLE on Thursday that, the situation in the al-Hawl refugees camp in northeast Syria was “very difficult.”

“All citizens of all nationalities who did not participate in the war are civilians and must be deported,” Luffy added, “It’s wise to send people back to their countries of origin.”

Finland’s Ministry of Justice Office said on Thursday that they had received five complaints about the government’s position on the transfer of ISIS women and children from al-Hawl camp.

While some Finnish citizens have condemned their country’s government for not moving to evacuate women and children from the northeastern Syria camp, as they called on the authorities to bring them back to Finland, according to the Finnish Ministry of Justice, which added that families’ relatives were willing to pay their evacuation bills. Nevertheless, they noted that women and children could not be removed without the assistance of the Finnish authorities.

The adviser’s office stated that they couldn’t predict a timetable for resolving these complaints.

While the Syrian Democratic Forces have called on the concerned countries to take their ISIS-families back to their original countries.
