Israeli forces intensify attacks across southern Syria
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces shelled the southern outskirts of al-Rafid village and Tel Ahmar Sharqi in Quneitra countryside, southern Syria, with more than 10 artillery shells fired from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, local sources told North Press on Sunday.
No casualties have been reported so far, the sources said.
Israeli forces also shelled the vicinity of Samadaniya al-Sharqiya village in central Quneitra with an artillery shell, according to the sources.
Meanwhile, an Israeli force consisting of 10 military vehicles entered Umm Batna village in central Quneitra, where it set up a checkpoint and began searching several homes, the sources said.
Israeli forces also fired illumination flares over Ghadeer al-Bustan village in southern Quneitra, according to the sources.
In western Daraa, Israeli forces stationed at the al-Jazeera barracks opened heavy machine-gun fire toward residential homes on the western side of Maariyah village in the Yarmouk Basin, directly opposite the barracks, the sources said.
The simultaneous shelling and ground incursions come amid local warnings that escalating Israeli operations could further affect stability in southern Syria.
