Barzani Charity Foundation rehabilitates water wells in Syria‘s Afrin
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Barzani Charity Foundation completed on Monday the rehabilitation of water wells in Jindires in the Afrin countryside, northern Syria.
Peshawa Bahlawi, coordinator of the Barzani Charity Foundation in Syria, told North Press that the wells were repaired through deepening works, the installation of solar power systems, and other logistical work and supplies.
“Only the water pipelines remain. We hope that in the coming period, the Jindires Water Unit, together with whoever takes charge of the task, will repair them so that water reaches every home in the town,” he said.
Ahmed Mohammed Omar, a resident of Kafr Safra village, said, “We are here at the Kafr Safra water station, but the water goes to Jindires and supplies the town. The project had stopped because the wells were malfunctioning, but the Barzani Charity Foundation came, repaired the wells and installed solar panels. Now the water goes to Jindires and everyone benefits.”
He explained that the area includes the Kafr Safra station, Jindires, and another station farther uphill called Sheikh Mohammed Station, which supplies Kafr Safra village. The water from the Kafr Safra station is designated exclusively for Jindires.
