Israeli forces fire toward houses in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces on Sunday opened heavy machine-gun fire from the Al-Jazira military barracks toward houses in the village of Maariya in western Daraa, southern Syria.
Local sources told North Press the gunfire caused panic among residents but resulted in no injuries, adding that such incidents have become almost a daily occurrence.
In a separate incident, Israeli artillery fired four shells at Bat al-Warda hill near the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside. No information was immediately available on possible casualties or damage, according to other local sources.
The incidents come days after Syrian and Israeli delegations met in Jordan under U.S. sponsorship to discuss ways to reduce tensions, while military escalation has continued in Daraa and Quneitra governorates, according to North Press correspondents.
