Russia claims capture of three settlements in Ukraine
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Saturday that its forces had captured three settlements in Ukraine’s Donetsk and Sumy regions.
The ministry said Russian forces captured Khrapivshchyna in the Sumy region, while units of the Center group took control of Novoandriivka and Rubizhne in the Donetsk region.
The claims could not be independently verified.
Ukraine’s General Staff reported 242 combat clashes with Russian forces over the previous 24 hours as of 8 a.m. Saturday.
It said Russian forces carried out 77 airstrikes, dropped 284 guided aerial bombs, launched more than 9,200 kamikaze drones and conducted nearly 3,000 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements.
The Ukrainian military also reported Russian airstrikes near Khrapivshchyna in the Sumy region but did not confirm that the settlement had fallen under Russian control.
The Russian Defense Ministry also said its forces had struck a logistics center in the Kyiv region where components for Ukrainian ballistic missiles were allegedly stored. Reuters said it could not independently verify the Russian claims.
