IDF chief visits Israeli-held buffer zone in southern Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Wednesday said Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir entered the Israeli-held buffer zone in southern Syria earlier in the day, accompanied by several senior officers.

The IDF said Zamir received a security briefing on the field situation during the tour and met with reserve soldiers deployed in the area.

The IDF did not specify the locations visited or identify the officers accompanying Zamir.

On Tuesday, Israeli aircraft carried out eight strikes on the runway of Abu al-Duhur military airbase in Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria causing material damage but no casualties. Israeli forces also carried out several incursions into the countryside of Daraa and Quneitra in southern Syria.

Local sources told North Press on Wednesday morning that Israeli forces carried out a military incursion into Jubata al-Khashab in northern Quneitra, entering the area with ground forces reinforced by more than 100 soldiers and 15 military vehicles.
