Israeli patrol advances, conducts searches in Syria’s Quneitra

QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli army patrol on Sunday advanced along the Crushers Road on the outskirts of Jubata al-Khashab in the northern countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria.

A day earlier, sources said Israeli forces brought in military vehicles and bulldozers to the southern countryside of Quneitra, where the machinery began erecting earthen berms and military fortifications around a hill amid a noticeable state of alert.

Syria’s state-run news agency SANA reported that the patrol consisted of several military vehicles that set up a checkpoint on the road and carried out “thorough searches” of the stone crushers in the area. No arrests had been reported at the time of writing.

Areas in southern Syria have witnessed frequent Israeli movements and incursions in recent months amid ongoing disputes over the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Damascus considers such movements a violation of the standing accord and has called for adherence to its terms, while Israel says its actions are driven by border-related security concerns.
