Israeli forces set up checkpoint, arrest young man in Quneitra
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces on Monday set up a temporary military checkpoint at the entrance to the village of al-Mushairfa in the central Quneitra countryside, southern Syria, and arrested a person.
The Israeli forces conducted thorough searches of passing buses and vehicles and demanded identification documents from civilians.
A local source told North Press that an Israeli army patrol, consisting of 10 soldiers and three four-wheel-drive vehicles, established the checkpoint for several hours, stopped vehicles, and carried out intensive searches of passengers without providing any explanation.
The source added that patrol members detained a young man as he passed through the checkpoint, without clarifying the reason for his arrest, before taking him to an unknown location.
Dozens of young men have been detained by Israeli forces in the Quneitra and Daraa countrysides since the fall of the al-Assad regime. While some were released within days, around 40 remain in detention, amid near-daily incursions into the area.
