SDF commander Mazloum Abdi congratulates Syrians on Assad regime’s fall anniversary

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – General Mazloum Abdi, the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), congratulated Syrians on Sunday on the first anniversary of the fall of the Assad regime, describing the occasion as a reaffirmation of the Syrian people’s will to build a future based on justice, stability, partnership, and the protection of all communities’ rights.

In a post on the platform X, Abdi said, “A year ago, Syria entered a new phase with the fall of the former regime, a pivotal moment we cherish that ended decades of authoritarianism and division.”

He added that the current stage imposes a shared national responsibility on all Syrians and calls for inclusive dialogue that prioritizes the interests of the people above all else.

Earlier on Sunday, General Abdi noted that the new Syria stands at an important crossroads and is entering a fresh phase in its relations with the West. He concluded his post by reaffirming commitment to the March 10 agreement as a foundation for building a democratic, decentralized Syria guided by its people and safeguarded by the principles of freedom, justice, and equality.
