ISIS claims attack on oil tanker in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Sunday responsibility for attacking an oil tanker in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Through its media outlet Amaq, the group announced that its militants had targeted an oil tanker with machine guns near the al-Ozba oil field, east of Deir ez-Zor.
According to the statement, the attack caused damage to the tanker and a spill of its contents, while the attackers reportedly withdrew without incident.
The al-Ozba has witnessed near-daily attacks on oil tankers, as its vast desert terrain has recently allowed ISIS cells to increase their activity.
