Clashes erupt in Suwayda as government forces report casualties
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces announced on Tuesday the death of one member of the internal security forces and the injury of two others in the Suwayda countryside, while the “National Guard” in Suwayda claimed that the government forces had violated the ceasefire in the western countryside of the city.
In a statement, the “National Guard” said, “At 18:40 this evening, government forces carried out a new violation of the ceasefire in the towns of Rima Hazem and Al-Mansoura, using five drones, in addition to heavy and medium machine guns, targeting the western sector near the towns of Salim and Atayl, as well as the international highway.”
The National Guard clarified that this attack resulted in the death of a civilian and several injuries.
A correspondent for North Press reported that a direct clash broke out between government forces and armed “Druze” groups. The clash resulted in the death of Ahmad Abdulraouf al-Muslim, a member of the internal security forces, and the injury of two others with varying degrees of injuries. The injured were transported to the Busra al-Sham hospital for treatment.
The correspondent added that the area witnessed heightened security measures following the clash, with reinforcements arriving at the site and search operations underway to locate the attackers.
The Syrian state news al-Ikhbariya Syrian channel confirmed the death of one internal security member and the injury of two others in clashes that took place in the western Suwayda countryside.
