Two coordinated assaults target Asayish forces in Deir ez-Zor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Friday that their units were targeted by two simultaneous attacks in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
In a statement, the Asayish said that their positions came under two coordinated assaults in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, carried out by terrorist cells that persistently attempt to undermine security, spread fear, and create chaos.
According to the statement, “At 7:00 PM, two gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on a joint checkpoint manned by our forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the village of Burayha before fleeing the scene.”
Simultaneously, unknown individuals threw a hand grenade at one of the Asayish centers in the town of Diban, without causing any casualties among Asayish members.
The Asayish added that its personnel “responded immediately to the sources of fire at both sites,” noting that the attackers withdrew quickly. Security patrols were subsequently deployed throughout the area, and investigations were launched to identify and pursue those responsible.
