Trump praises Syria’s al-Sharaa, hails Middle East ‘Miracle’

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he had met with Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa, describing their talks as “an honor” and highlighting his role in promoting peace in the Middle East.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote that the two leaders discussed “all the intricacies of PEACE in the Middle East,” calling al-Sharaa “a major advocate” for stability.

He added that he looked forward to meeting him again, referring to what he called “the Great Miracle that is taking place in the Middle East.”

Trump emphasized that “a stable and successful Syria is very important to all countries in the region,” signaling a rare public endorsement of the new Syrian leadership.

The meeting marks a significant development in the warming relations between Washington and Damascus following years of diplomatic isolation. Al-Sharaa, who assumed office earlier this year as president of the Syrian transitional government, has sought to reestablish international ties and join the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat the Islamic State (ISIS).

The statement follows a series of high-level contacts between U.S. and Syrian officials amid shifting regional dynamics. Al-Sharaa’s government, which emerged after a negotiated transition backed by Western and regional actors, has aimed to stabilize war-torn Syria and combat extremist groups.
