Support suspension halts operations at major hospital in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The majority of vital departments at al-Kasrah General Hospital, located in the northwestern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, have ceased operations following the suspension of support from a humanitarian organization working in the area, a source said on Sunday.
An administrative source at the hospital told North Press that assistance to eight key departments had been suddenly halted, causing a near-total disruption of essential medical services.
The affected departments include Pediatrics and Incubators, Ambulance and Emergency, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Outpatient Clinics, Radiology, and the Pharmacy, according to the source.
He added that limited support continues only for the Dialysis and Physiotherapy departments to ensure the continuity of life-saving services, particularly for patients suffering from kidney failure.
Al-Kasrah General Hospital is one of the most important healthcare facilities in the northwestern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. It serves tens of thousands of residents from surrounding towns and villages and had been providing free medical services and medication prior to the suspension.
