Syrian authorities seize 11 million captagon pills in Homs coming from Lebanon
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Ministry of Interior of the Syrian transitional government announced on Tuesday the seizure of a vehicle carrying 11 million captagon pills that had entered from Lebanon and was heading toward Homs Governorate, central Syria.
In a statement, the ministry said, “The Anti-Narcotics Branch in Homs Governorate seized a car coming from Lebanese territory containing approximately 11 million captagon pills in the southern countryside of Homs.”
It added that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those involved in the smuggling operation.
A day earlier, the Syrian Interior Ministry reported foiling two separate attempts to traffic and distribute narcotics in the governorates of Daraa and Deir ez-Zor.
On Sep. 26, the Ministry of Defense in the Syrian transitional government also announced the interception of a drug shipment near the town of Dabousiyeh, in western Homs countryside on the border with Lebanon, following an armed clash with a group of smugglers.
