SDF, Syrian government agree on immediate ceasefire
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian transitional government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) agreed on Tuesday on an immediate ceasefire in all fronts in north and northeast Syria.
Minister of Defense in the Syrian transitional government, Murhaf Abu Qasra, announced that he reached an agreement with Mazloum Abdi, Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), on a comprehensive ceasefire across north and northeastern Syria.
Abu Qasra said in a post on X platform “I met a short while ago with Mr. Mazloum Abdi in the capital, Damascus, and we agreed on a comprehensive ceasefire across all fronts and military deployment areas in northern and northeastern Syria.”
Earlier in the day, an SDF delegation headed by Abdi arrived in Damascus to meet with Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa.
According to Abu Qasra, the ceasefire agreement is to be implemented immediately.
The SDF delegation also included Rohlat Afrin, a senior commander in the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), and Ilham Ahmad, Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
