Israeli army conducts home searches in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli army unit advanced on Tuesday into the western countryside of Daraa in southern Syria, conducting home searches and setting up a temporary checkpoint, local sources reported.
According to the sources, the force—consisting of two military vehicles and more than 15 soldiers—entered the area near the village of Abedin from the direction of the al-Jazeera company.
The unit reportedly established a temporary checkpoint between the villages of Kuya and Abedin before searching several homes.
Residents said the soldiers withdrew later toward the company’s headquarters.
The unexpected Israeli presence caused anxiety among locals, who expressed fears that similar incursions could occur again without warning.
The region remains tense amid growing concern that such movements may signal a potential escalation in Israeli military activity in southern Syria, particularly in the absence of security guarantees for civilians.
