Two Asayish members injured in armed attack in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two members of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) were injured on Saturday in an armed attack targeting their vehicle in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A security source from the Asayish told North Press that unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire with a machine gun on an Asayish vehicle traveling along the main road in the village of Meheimideh, north of Deir ez-Zor.
The source said that the attack wounded two members of the Asayish, while the assailants managed to flee the scene.
He added that the village of Meheimideh had witnessed relative calm in recent weeks, with no reported security incidents or attacks for more than a month prior to Saturday’s assault.
