Kurdish official accuses Damascus of delaying March 10 pact implementation

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A senior Kurdish official accused on Friday the Syrian transitional government of “deliberate delay” in implementing the March 10 agreement signed between Syria’s Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa and Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) General Mazloum Abdi.

In an interview with AlArabiya Net, Badran Chiya Kurd, Deputy Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), said the Syrian authorities are “betting on time until the end of the year” to avoid fulfilling the agreement, particularly regarding the integration of SDF forces into the national army.

He added that while the agreement calls for full implementation by year-end, the timeline may need extension due to Damascus’ reluctance.

Chiya Kurd dismissed accusations that the SDF is obstructing the March 10 agreement, pointing out that Damascus had repeatedly failed to honor commitments on military, security, education, and displaced residents’ return, as well as constitutional amendments and meetings with the Kurdish delegation.
