Seven civilians killed in government shelling of Aleppo countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Seven civilians were killed and four others injured on Saturday after artillery shelling by Syrian government forces struck the village of Umm Tina in the rural area of Deir Hafer, east of Aleppo, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported.
In an official statement, the SDF said, “Factions affiliated with the Damascus government carried out a massacre against civilians in Umm Tina village, eastern Deir Hafer, on Saturday evening. The attacks began with drones, followed by a heavy wave of artillery shelling at 7 p.m., directly targeting homes of residents.”
The statement confirmed that the shelling resulted in the deaths of seven civilians and injuries to four others.
Earlier on Saturday, the SDF reported that a drone belonging to Syrian government forces targeted one of its military points in Aleppo countryside.
The SDF condemned the targeting of civilians, stating: “We strongly denounce this heinous crime, which continues a long-standing pattern by these factions of targeting unarmed civilians. We emphasize that impunity has encouraged repeated violations.”
The attacks underline ongoing security challenges in Aleppocountryside, where local governance and SDF security measures are tasked with protecting civilians and maintaining stability amid continuous hostilities.
