KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – The Northeast Syria Chess Championship for men and women began on Friday in the city of Kobani. The two-day event is organized by the Youth and Sports Board and the Kobani Sports Council under the supervision of the General Sports Federation of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
A total of 48 participants from Kobani, Raqqa, Tabqa, Deir ez-Zor, and the Jazira region are competing for the championship title.
The organizing committee told North Press that the top three winners will be honored at the conclusion of the tournament. Last year’s championship was held in Raqqa.
