Asayish capture 61 suspects in Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor security operations
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Monday the capture of 61 individuals accused of terrorism, criminal activity, and drug trafficking during security operations in Raqqa and the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
In a statement, the Asayish said its Anti-Terrorism Forces (HAT), Anti-Narcotics Departments, and Anti-Crime Forces carried out extensive raids in both regions over the past few days.
The operations resulted in the capture of 61 wanted persons and the seizure of large amounts of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and narcotics, including crystal meth, hashish, captagon, and other pills.
The forces also confiscated drug paraphernalia, landmines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition and weapon magazines.
According to the statement, the operations were part of a broader security plan targeting hideouts of wanted individuals. It added that the forces “acted with professionalism and precision, completing their tasks despite clashes with some suspects, without recording any casualties among our ranks.”
The detainees were transferred to the judiciary for legal proceedings, the statement concluded.
