Syria cracks down on Narcotics, fake currency in Latakia
LATAKIA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Interior Ministry announced on Friday the seizure of large quantities of drugs and counterfeit currency in the western province of Latakia.
In an official statement, the ministry said, “As part of intensive security campaigns to combat drug trafficking and distribution, the Latakia Anti-Narcotics Branch succeeded in seizing significant quantities of drugs and counterfeit money.”
The seized items reportedly included approximately 25,000 Captagon pills, 15,000 psychotropic medication pills, 60 kilograms of hashish, and 20 million Syrian pounds in counterfeit currency.
The statement added that the suspects involved were arrested, the confiscated materials were secured, and investigations are ongoing to dismantle the full network behind these illegal activities.
