Syrian authorities arrest former intelligence member in Idlib
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Ministry of Interior of Syria’s transitional government announced on Saturday the arrest of a former member of the al-Assad regime’s Air Force Intelligence in Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria.
According to the ministry, security forces acted on a report from residents of the al-Takhi residential camp in the town of al-Bardeghli, north of Idlib city, who alerted them to the presence of Saher al-Hassan al-Hassan in the area.
The ministry’s statement said investigations and testimonies from locals revealed that al-Hassan had previously served with Air Force Intelligence in Homs Governorate before later joining the Iran-backed Liwa al-Quds militia.
He is accused of involvement in grave violations against civilians, including torture, kidnapping, systematic killings, and drug trafficking.
The ministry confirmed that al-Hassan has been transferred to the relevant authorities to complete investigations before being referred to the judiciary.
