US admiral visits Hawl Camp to discuss security and aid
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) –A high-level US delegation led by US Central Command Admiral Charles Brad Cooper visited al-Hol camp in northeastern Hasakah on Wednesday. The delegation met with the camp administration to discuss ways to ensure its protection, management, and enhanced security and humanitarian support.
Jihan Hanan, co-chair of al-Hol camp, told North Press that “representatives from the security forces responsible for protecting the camp (Asayish) attended the meeting.”
Discussions focused on solutions for the displaced residents currently in the camp, especially those unwilling to return to their home countries, alongside the provision of continued humanitarian and security support for those remaining after recent relocation operations.
Hanan emphasized that the visit was routine and pre-planned. She also clarified that yesterday’s escape attempt involving about 60 women and children from the migrants’ section was unrelated to the delegation, dismissing social media claims linking the visit to the incident.
She added that the purpose of the visit was to follow up on ongoing support and ensure the protection of camp residents as part of regular meetings between the International Coalition and camp administration.
