Government delegation visits Turkish-occupied Sere Kaniye in NE Syria
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A delegation of the Syrian transitional government headed by Abdel Qader al-Tahan, Deputy Minister of Interior, visited on Tuesday the Turkish-occupied city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), located in the north of Hasakah in northeastern Syria.
An informed security source told North Press that the visit aimed to activate the city’s internal security apparatus.
The source, who requested anonymity, added that the visit followed a similar one about six weeks ago, when the ministry announced recruitment for the security apparatus.
During the latest visit, officials agreed to register 300 new recruits—only 70 of whom are from Sere Kaniye and its countryside, while the remainder are from Deir ez-Zor and other Syrian cities.
The source pointed out that the delegation entered the area via Turkey, passing through the Tel Abyad border crossing before traveling on to Sere Kaniye.
During the visit, the delegation collected lists, files, and applications of the new recruits to review later in Damascus.
The source indicated that a similar visit was carried out the same day in Tel Abyad, also aimed at reactivating the General Security apparatus in both cities.
