16-year-old injured by Turkish gendarmerie fire in Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – A 16-year-old boy, Walat Mahmoud Hawran, was injured on Monday after Turkish border guards (gendarmerie) opened fire randomly on the city of Kobani in northern Syria.

A medical source told North Press that the boy sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, resulting in internal bleeding.

The source added that he is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of the German Specialized Hospital in Kobani.

It is worth noting that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), together with local civil defense teams, continue to reinforce protection for civilians in border towns like Kobani. They coordinate security measures and monitor the areas to reduce civilian exposure to cross-border violence.

Incidents of cross-border fire from Turkish forces have repeatedly endangered civilians in northern Syria, particularly in areas near the border.
