QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces established a temporary military checkpoint Monday in the village of al-Samdaniya, located in the rural countryside of Quneitra province in southern Syria, according to local sources. The deployment comes amid heightened security measures in the surrounding areas.

A local source told North Press that the checkpoint includes military vehicles and approximately 25 personnel stationed on site. Israeli forces have reportedly begun inspecting passing vehicles and civilians, occasionally requesting identification cards.

“Our correspondent confirmed that the checkpoint remains operational at the time of reporting,” the source added, noting local concerns that the site could become permanent or precede a broader military movement. Similar Israeli operations in southern Syria have raised tensions among local communities in recent weeks.
